The Drunken Skeptics Podcast
The Drunken Skeptics is the Podcast of the Michigan Skeptics Association. The podcast is our way of taking a skeptical and critical view of today’s new and events.
Why Drunken?
The concept for the show formed while at Michelle’s Skeptics in the Pub Event. We were all drinking locally crafted beer at the time and the title seemed to fit.
Your podcast angers/insults/amuses me and I wish to comment and/or ask a question.
You can email us at podcast@miskeptics.org or fill our our Contact Form. Also you can now call us on the phone! Give us a drunk dial on our Drunken Skeptic line, 734-719-0274 (U.S. number) and leave a message. If we like it, think it was a good comment (or the check clears) we may play it on the podcast!
Who are the Drunken Skeptics?
Adam Bourque
Adam is the Director and founder of The Michigan Skeptics Association. As an Atheist and Skeptic for most of his life, he founded MISkeptics to give Michigan a larger and more unified skeptical voice. He was born in South East Michigan and has lived in Michigan for his entire life.
Adam co-founded the Drunken Skeptics with Chris and Michelle as a way to bring a critical thinking, skeptical view to news and events that affect not only Michigan but the nation and world as a whole.
He is also a big fan of writing bios in third-person and his favorite drink is a Gin Martini though he usually stays with Rum and Coke.

Michelle Lester-Bell
Michelle Bell is an aspiring cat lady who also occasionally gets paid to work as a birth and postpartum doula. Growing up in frigid wastelands of Ohio, she was raised Catholic and asked “Why?” until her mother’s ears almost fell off. Instead of opening up Michelle’s head and pouring in all the answers, her mother taught Michelle to ask better questions. In her spare time when she’s not immersing herself in sex, pregnancy, and birth (not necessarily in that order), she reads vociferously and enjoys indulging in video games, nerd revelry, and drink.
She coordinates Center for Inquiry event in Ypsilanti (although does not speak for CFI in any official capacity) and is involved with the Drunken Skeptics in an effort to promote critical thinking and listening skills, as well as highlighting opportunities for activism within the Midwest and building communities.
Much to her husband’s chagrin, Michelle knows how to hold her liquor and has expensive tastes. Her current favorite is Jameson whiskey, although she never strays too far from her first love, Captain Morgan. Guinness is also a good way to her heart. She’s willing to drink anything at least once, provided it’s an ethanol-alcohol-based beverage that isn’t going to blind her.

Chris Lindsay
Chris is the Organizer of The Ann Arbor Science & Skeptics and host of the Critical Wit podcast. An enthusiast of science for years, he’s a relative newcomer to skepticism. He joined the Drunken Skeptics with Adam and Michelle as a way to promote the understanding of scientific issues – especially the controversial ones. It’s his goal to help skeptics get a better understanding of when scientific positions are driven by evidence or ideology.
His favorite drink is a Vodka Sunrise, but due to being a cheap bastard – will generally stick with draft beer.
